Eyes Exposed

I noticed my friend Kelsey sitting there leaning against the wall with her scarf wrapped around her head leaving just her eyes exposed. The simplicity of seeing only her eyes drew me in and I knew I had to capture this moment. I grabbed my camera and a Speedlite and said “DON’T MOVE!” Kelsey is not a big fan of having her photo taken but luckily for me on this day she was a bit under the weather and didn’t really have the energy to fight back. I took advantage of the opportunity and snapped two shots.

Image Processing

Processing this image was pretty straight forward. First I brought the image into Focal Point by +onOne Software to soften and darken the edges. Next I applied a bit of dodging and burning to selected areas in +Adobe Photoshop Lightroom.

Note: This photo was taken in the studio with a Canon 5D Mark II, EF24-70 f/2.8L lens and 580EX II Speedlite with PocketWizards. Settings: ISO 50, 1/200 sec @ f/11, Focal Length 60mm
